Big Orange Games-
Hello All,
I would like to thank Mark Johnson and everyone at Jim Beech for inviting the Autism Gym to the Big Orange Games! It was awesome!! We had 14 kids show from our group and they had a great time! Its hard to describe the feeling that parents have when their child wins an award! I know I was very proud of my son! He entered every game and earned 8 medals!!! We are so proud of him and all of the kids!!! It was a great event and you all are very special people! I know a few of you had to leave before the awards were given out. Mark will have them for us on Tuesday. Thanks to all! It was great!
Thanks!
ASGO's Autism Awareness Training for Law Enforcement Officers
ASGO’s Autism Awareness Training for Law Enforcement Officers. The morning session included classroom and video training with Dennis Debbaudt, a nationally known speaker on Autism and Law Enforcement Officer. The afternoon portion of the training involved 9 teenagers, young adults, and children with autism. The interaction with the individuals with autism was amazing and allowed the participants to interact with a group of individuals representing the spectrum of autism. This class had 90+ officers registered representing 18 different agencies.
Please insure that you have an awareness sticker, an alert sticker (ASGO has these available on our website at www.asgo.org), a ribbon, basically something on your car that would identify that you are carrying a person with autism. When the police or fire fighters see that emblem, they will immediately look for a child or adult with autism. The approach will be much different than if they were not aware.
